CCCONFETTI is an evolving editorial archive of celebrations.

The project documents how rituals, temporary structures, materials, images and collective actions transform space over time.

WHAT THE PROJECT STUDIES

Celebration as spatial knowledge

CCCONFETTI is not an event calendar or a tourist guide. It examines celebrations as spatial, material and cultural systems.

The archive looks at how temporary structures, rituals, images and communities produce collective environments that may last for days, hours or only a single moment.

It follows the ways public and domestic spaces are occupied, remade and remembered through assembly, procession, performance, destruction, dismantling and reuse.

WHO IT IS FOR

The archive is intended for communities, researchers, educators, students, designers and anyone interested in how celebrations produce and transform space.

HOW AN ENTRY WORKS

One entry, two modes of knowledge

Every Celebration entry combines an editorial reading experience with a structured archival record.

CELEBRATION ENTRY

One editorial page brings interpretation, comparable data and supporting evidence together without collapsing their distinct roles.

RESEARCH FRAMEWORK

A shared framework, designed to evolve

The classification system is developed comparatively and will evolve as new and substantially different celebrations are added.

Unknown, disputed and pending information is recorded as such. A distributed celebration is not reduced to a single place or date without explaining that simplification.

The authored voice of each essay remains intact.
The record supports comparison; it does not replace the essay.
Editorial adaptations and research limits are disclosed.
Sources, credits and rights information remain visible.

ORIGINS & PEDAGOGY

From directed research to a living atlas

CCCONFETTI grows from Rosita Palladino’s research into ephemeral architecture and celebrations as spatial, material, social and temporal phenomena.

A direct precedent is ARC 498: Directed Research at Syracuse University School of Architecture in Spring 2025. The course was co-led by Rosita Palladino and Magdalena Valdevenito.

LA F[i]ESTA treated celebration both as a subject of research and as a method of working. Archival study, collective design, full-scale construction and public occupation became interconnected forms of knowledge.

This work took public form through LA F[i]ESTA: EPHEMERAL STRUCTURES. CCCONFETTI now extends it into a public digital archive: an open and evolving tool for research, teaching and exchange.
